Who AM I?
And what right do I have to comment on American politics?
Hi, I’m Kashvi.
As a former Senate Page, I saw politics in action. I saw senators yell across the aisle for the cameras and shake hands over lunch minutes later. I saw the media distort occurrences within Congress to sell more papers.
As an aspiring political science major, I know how troubling the current state of our country is to believers in democracy, free speech, and America as a whole.
At the age of sixteen, I held the country’s votes in my hands. I will never forget the experience of holding so many hopes and dreams in my arms. That’s why I know in order to keep our dreams alive, we must fight polarization. We must learn about extreme radicalization. We must notice when we are being baited, we must realize we are being pitted against each other to distract from something bigger.
